What is FSC Certification?Â
FSC is a major global not for profit organisations aiming to protect sensitive environments, ecosystems, fauna and indigenous populations from harmful or illegal logging operations.Â
There are 2 parts to the certification process. Â
1)Â Â Forest Management Certification - confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves biological diversity and benefits the lives of local people and workers, while ensuring it sustains economic viability.
2)Â Â Chain of custody certification - is how the forestry auditors verifies that forest-based materials produced according to rigorous standards are credibly used along the product's path from the forest to becoming finished goods.
Why it’s ImportantÂ
Forests are increasingly being recognised as a critically important resource in reducing the effects of climate change. Additionally, they represent some of the richest biological areas on Earth, while also providing food, raw materials for many of our products, and livelihoods for millions of people and animals.
